Invitation to NDA is a second victory: Advani
Saturday, March 12 2005 14:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Ranchi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani today (Mar 12, 2005) said that Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi's invitation to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to form the Government was the 'second victory' for the alliance in the State and attributed it to the media.

''It is our second victory. The first was given by the voters. In the second, the media had a role ... It highlighted the facts before the nation,'' Advani told newsmen ahead of the swearing in of Chief Minister-designate Arjun Munda.

He said even those who did not agree with the NDA's ideology admitted that whatever was being done by the Governor was an assault on democracy.

Advani, however, expressed satisfaction over the role of Governor Sibtey Razi yesterday saying, ''He set right the previous wrong.''

Jharkhand - Party Position

''This will have a good impact on the politics of the nation,'' he said in reply to a question.

Asked about NDA's reported decision to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Advani said the matter was only referred to in the NDA meeting and no decision had yet been taken.

NDA convener and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president George Fernandes, who arrived in Ranchi to participate in the swearing-in of Munda scheduled for later today, said, ''We have to sit together and discuss.''
