Nitish Kumar asks Paswan to join hands with NDA Saturday, March 12 2005 18:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Senior JDU (Janata Dal United) leader Nitish Kumar today (March 12, 2005) said his party was 'flexible to a great extent' in forming a 'non-RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) Government and renewed his call to the LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) president Ramvilas Paswan to part company with the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) at the Centre and join hands with the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) for achieving the objective.
"People did not vote for imposition of President's Rule but to form a popular Government to end RJD misrule. Paswan should align with the NDA without any prejudice to help form a Government," Kumar told a felicitation function organised for newly elected party MLAs in Patna.
"If we analyse the poll outcome, the LJP won in 23 out of the 29 Assembly constituencies fighting a tough battle against RJD where its nominees finished a close second. It makes its clear that the LJP romped to victory on an anti-RJD plank," he said.
Appealing to Paswan to 'honour the people's verdict against the RJD misrule,' Kumar said, "Paswan should help in Government formation for which a Common Minimum Programme be evolved.
"The issue of who will head the new Government will be amicably resolved within moments if the LJP responds positively to our call," he said.
"I am for the first time publically making an appeal to Paswan to heed to our suggestions otherwise we will go to the field to make the people aware of the factual position coming in the way of Government formation and we will also touch the constituencies where LJP won," Kumar said in a veiled threat to Paswan.
