Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was yesterday (Mar 11, 2005) upset over the political developments in Jharkhand and held consultations with allies to find a way out of the constitutional deadlock following failure of the Assembly to conduct the trial of strength.
Singh was "upset" over the developments in Jharkhand, according to the Prime Minister's spokesman Sanajaya Baru.
Ahead of the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, he held a round of discussions with Left party leaders Harkishen Singh Surjeet, Prakash Karat and Abani Roy and spoke to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Laloo Prasad and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader M Karunanidhi over telephone.
He told them that a constitutional deadlock has arisen following the failure of the Soren Government to prove its majority and that the Centre has to find a way out of it.
