The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was today (March 13, 2005) closed again for vehicular traffic due to fresh landslide in Raman-Banihal stretch this morning with over 2000 vehicles stranded on the 300 km long route, official sources said.
"The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has been closed again for the vehicular traffic due to fresh landslide at Kayla Morh and Shooting Stone at Panthal in Ramban-Banihal stretch of the highway this afternoon," they told sources in Jammu.
With the closure of the Highway, over 2000 vehicles have been stranded at various places on the Highway, besides a heavy traffic jam between Patnitop-Udhampur stretch, they said.
The men and machines of the Border Road Organisation (BRO) have been pressed into service to clear the landslide and stone shooting spots in Panthal and Keyla Morh in Ramban-Banihal sector of the highway, they said.
The traffic authorities had also allowed vehicles to move towards Srinagar from Jammu today, they said adding that all those vehicles have remained stranded on the highway.
