Sunday, March 13 2005 17:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jaipur: A maulvi was stabbed in Bhilwara today (March 13, 2005) spreading communal tension to Asind town even as prohibitory orders were in force following Friday's (March 11, 2005) clashes, a senior police official said.

The maulvi, identified as Imran Khan was admitted with multiple injuries to Bhilwara Government hospital though stated out of danger, Inspector-General of Police (law and order) Navdeep Singh, camping the area, said.

Two persons have been "rounded up in this connection", he said.

He said the situation was tense but under control with deployment of additional forces, including five companies of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary and Section 144 of CrPC being clamped as a precautionary measure.

Singh said forces were also deployed in the "communally sensitive" Asind town where some Hindu organisations today protested the slaying of one person on March 1.

Additional forces had been deployed in sensitive areas like Gulmandi and Bahla and mobile units of the force were asking people on the streets to go home.
