Monday, March 14 2005 20:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Taking note of "porno stuff" on some private television channels under the guise of showing sting operations, Government today (Mar 14, 2005) said it was mulling measures to curb the menace.

Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha, Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy assured the House that violation of laws "will be visited with some kind of punishment".

Earlier Congress Member Anand Sharma wanted to know what action Government would take against private channels showing obscenity while telecasting sting operations.

In reply to another query, he said there was an advertisement code, which bans exhibiting children in any kind of obscene scenes.
