Mild tremors felt in Hubli, Dharwad and Belgaum

Hubli: Twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad, their surrounding areas and Belgaum experienced mild tremors in the afternoon today (March 14, 2005).

The tremors were felt for a few seconds and windows and furniture in houses rattled in some areas in Hubli city resulting in many people making frantic calls to local news agencies to confirm the tremors felt by them.

City police control room also confirmed receiving telephone calls from residents in some areas in Hubli city, which felt the tremors.

In Belgaum where the tremors were felt for a fraction of second, similar phenomenon of rattling of furniture was witnessed, with people scurrying out of their homes, according to police.

However, no casualties have been reported in these cities, police added.
