Mumbai City and suburbs experience mild tremors Monday, March 14 2005 16:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
The Mumbai city and suburbs today (March 14, 2005) experienced mild tremors.
"The tremors were felt for a few seconds around 15:17 hrs (IST).
Quake measures 4.7 on the Ricter scale.
While there was no immediate news of any damage or injury, the tremor was strong and sustained enough to cause alarm.
There was panic in Nariman Point business district in Mumbai and other offices, with people rushing out of multi-storied buildings.
The furniture and other materials shook for over a minute in south Mumbai," a met official said.
Epicentre of the quake is in Koyna in Maharashtra. Koyna is an area prone to seismic activity. Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra.
The epicentre of the quake is at 17.2 degree North Latitude, 73.7 degree East Longitude, he said.
