Bihar's Chief Secretary to act as special advisor
Tuesday, March 15 2005 12:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Amid reported infighting between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Laloo Prasad and his bitter rival Ramvilas Paswan over the issue of appointments of advisors in Bihar, Governor Buta Singh has authorised chief secretary K A H Subramanian to act as his special advisor till the final appointments are made.

State Cabinet coordination department secretary Vijoy Prakash said in Patna that a notification to this effect was issued by his department following Governor's order last evening (Mar 14, 2005).

Even a week after the State being placed under President's rule, the posts of advisors are vacant reportedly due to ongoing tussle between Laloo Prasad and his archrival Paswan, who want appointments of advisors of their choice.

Governor Singh had already gone on record saying, "The delay in appointments of advisors will not be allowed to come in the way of smooth functioning of administration to tackle law and order and speed up pace of development.

Subramanian would now look after the work of advisor in day-to-day Government functioning, official sources said.

Without the appointments of full-fledged advisors, it has increasingly been difficult to clear several Government schemes and release funds for the execution of various development projects.

The Governor has also made development commissioner G S Kang chairman of the empowered economic committee.
