The National Aids Control Organisation has proposed setting up of 'Anti-Discrimination Units' in AIDS control societies in States and Union Territories, Rajya Sabha was informed today (Mar 16, 2005).
On the killing of a woman infected with HIV by three persons in Valsad in Gujarat, Minister of State for Home Manikrao Gavit said the accused have been arrested.
He said that following the incident, an awareness campaign for stopping discrimination against people living with HIV has been taken.
Besides, a network of HIV positive people is being developed in each and every area of State, he said.

The share of Public Sector in the GDP at current prices for the year 2003-04 stood at RS 5.9 lakh crore while that of Private Sector stood at Rs 19.35 lakh crore, which was 76.8 per cent of the total share in GDP, Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said.
A new scheme of Rural Electricity Infrastructure and Household Electrification has been approved for the attainment in the National Common Minimum Programme of completing Rural Household Electrification in five years, Power Minister P M Sayeed said.
