US stands-by its decision to revoke Modi's visa

New Delhi: The United States today (March 21, 2005) reaffirmed its decision to revoke the visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

US Ambassador to India David C Mulford told reporters in New Delhi that the State Department after a review following India's request had stuck to its earlier decision of declining him visa in the light of 2002 Gujarat riots.

He, however, said the decision was not aimed against BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) or Gujaratis in the US.
