Noted writer Nemichand Jain breathes his last

New Delhi: Noted Padmashree awardee writer and theatre personality Nemichand Jain died today (March 24, 2005) after suffering a stroke.

Eighty-six-year-old Jain, who was also conferred with the 'Shalaka Samman' by the Hindi Academy a few days ago, breathed his last at his Vikas Marg residence in East Delhi at 10.30 hrs (IST), family sources said.

He was a former Fellow and in-charge of the Centre for Cultivation of Arts, Jawaharlal Nehru University and also served as Assistant Director and Professor, the National School of Drama.

Jain founded 'Natrang Prathishtan'- an organisation working in the field of theatre, and was also the Editor of the Hindi theatre quarterly 'Natrang'.
