Naxalities yesterday (Mar 23, 2005) axed to death a police constable in hyper sensitive Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh and seriously injured another when they were guarding helipad for Governor K M Seth's visit today (Mar 24, 2005).
Constable Raj Narayan Singh was killed on the spot when naxalites dressed as tribals came to the helipad and attacked him with an axe, Dantewada police sources said over the phone.
Another constable Nepal Singh Dhruv was seriously injured in the attack. He rushed to the Dantewada police station, located about 200 meters from the spot, and informed others. But the ultras had fled from the scene when additional force reached the spot.
The naxalites also took SLRs of both the constables, sources said adding that the injured constable has been sent to Jagdalpur district hospital.
Both the armed constables of the district force were guarding the helipad for Governor K M Seth's visit to Dantewada today, sources said.
Meanwhile, other reports coming into Raipur stated the naxals burnt seven trucks and two motorcycles in another hyper naxalite infested Rajnandgaon district's Dongargarh area yesterday.
