Sonia to flag off Indo-Pak bus service with PM

New Delhi: United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi will join Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 7 to when he flags off the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service.

"Congress chief will be with the Prime Minister on that day to flag off the bus," chairperson of All India Congress Committee's (AICC) media department Ambika Soni said in New Delhi today (Mar 24, 2005).

The two leaders will also be addressing a public rally at Srinagar soon after flagging of the bus, she said.

Asked if the proposed rally in Uri on March 29, which was to be addressed by Sonia has been cancelled, Soni said, "It has been shifted to Srinagar now."

It has already been announced that Prime Minister would flag off the bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Soni, who is party in charge of the State, said she was holding discussions with State Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with regard to preparations for the event.
