Sonia stays away from Holi revels due to Tsunami Saturday, March 26 2005 18:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
In a low-key affair, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (March 26, 2005) celebrated his first Holi after assuming office with family.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi did not celebrate Holi due to the tsunami disaster and a number of party workers who had come to her residence to greet her went back disappointed.
President's rule in Bihar saw former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) supremo Laloo Prasad restricting the usually boisterous celebrations to a subdued show, the first in 15 years after being dislodged from power.
Those who called at the Prime Minister's residence on the occasion were senior Cabinet members, including HRD Minister Arjun Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and a number of Congress MPs, sources said.
