US decision to sell F-16s to Pak unfortunate: BJP
Sunday, March 27 2005 16:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Hyderabad: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (March 27, 2005) termed the US decision to sell F-16 fighter planes to Pakistan as "unfortunate" which it said would pose danger to the country's security.

The decision of Bush administration not only would fuel arms race in South Asia, it would have an adverse impact on the security environment of the country, BJP national secretary and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters in Hyderabad.

Earlier, the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee had successfully pressurised USA to keep its decision in abeyance for three years, he said.

The US is trying to create a gap between Hindu and Muslim community in the country and the decision to sell F-16s to Pakistan is a clear example of this, he alleged.

The rejection of visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was part of an international conspiracy to divide Hindus and Muslims of the country, Dattatreya said.
