Special court to view police video of Bakery site

Mumbai: The special court conducting the Best bakery re-trial would hold a screening of a police video, which was shot on March 2, 2002 a day after the bakery was attacked by a mob resulting in the death of 14 persons.

Activist Teesta Setalvad said that the screening would take place in an open court.

The video is considered to be important as it captured the site of the incident soon after the police arrived at the scene and recorded the rescue operation carried out by the police.

The court, had on Monday (Mar 28, 2005), allowed prosecution to examine the videographer who had shot the video. The court had also allowed examination of the video parlour owner who had entered into contract with police to carry out the recordings.

The bakery had been attacked on March 1 during the post-Godhra riots and had resulted in death of 14 persons.
