300 Mumbai dance bars down shutters for solidarity Friday, April 1 2005 08:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Over 300 dancing bar joints in the city would down their shutters starting midnight last night (Mar 31, 2005) to protest Maharashtra Government's decision to close the bars in rest of the State.
"The Government cannot fool us," the president of Bar Association of Mumbai Manjit Sethi said adding, "They want to sow a rift between us and break our unity through such disparity."
"But the dance bars in the city would remain closed to show their solidarity with the bars in rest of the State, which have been ordered to close down," he said.
He also said that Home Minister R R Patil would be gheraoed by bar girls unless the decision was revoked.
