Three-day LJP convention begins in Patna tomorrow
Friday, April 1 2005 12:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: A three-day conclave of Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) begins in Patna tomorrow (April 2, 2005) to review the post-Assembly poll scenario in Bihar and discuss ways to form a popular Government.

The conclave comes barely two days after a similar convention of the Janata Dal United (JDU), which resolved to make efforts for formation of a non-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Government in the State.

''The three-day meet will review the post-poll scenario and deliberate on ways to end the political impasse caused by the fractured verdict,'' the president of the dissolved State committee of LJP Narendra Singh said.

He said that though the LJP favoured installation of a popular Government in Bihar there were 'Certain irritants'' in the way, which needed to be cleared first.

While expressing hope that the logjam would end soon and a Government would be installed to bring an end to the President's Rule, Singh said the shape of the next Government would be discussed at the convention.

LJP President Paswan after dissolving the State committee yesterday (Mar 31, 2005) said it was done to enable members to approach the Central committee ''fearlessly'' with their complaints and suggestions to strengthen the organisation.

Singh said the composition of the new State committee would also be discussed during the three-day meet and a new team would be in place in the first week of this month.
