Assam: 2 killed, 7 injured in ONGC pipeline blasts Saturday, April 2 2005 09:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Two United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) ultras were killed, seven persons injured and an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) pipeline blown up in five separate blasts in Assam in the run up to the 'Raising Day' of the militant outfit on April 7, official sources in Guwahati said.
A grenade exploded in the hands of a militant, as he was about to hurl it on a house in Kharoajan village in Baska district after they were refused shelter, killing him and another militant.
The ONGC pipeline was blown up at a place under Chabua police station in Tinsukia district causing a major fire, the sources said. However, no casualty was reported. Efforts were on to put out the inferno.
In another incident, an ULFA militant hurled a grenade at the Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati at 07:15 hrs (IST) near the capital complex housing the secretariat, Assembly and Ministers residences, injuring five persons, the sources said.
The sources said the Deputy Commissioner's residence in Dibrugarh district was attacked by the militants. The grenade used in the attack fell into a drain outside the DC's bungalow, injuring a woman passer-by.
In an attack at Aradhal area in Dhemaji district, a policeman was injured.
All the injured persons were hospitalised, the sources said.
The police also seized an AK47 rifle buried by the ULFA activists in the compound of a house at Khakrishal village in Nalbari district, the sources added.
