BJP sees 'constructive steps' towards non-RJD Govt Sunday, April 3 2005 15:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Virtually backing JDU (Janata Dal United) leader Nitish Kumar's efforts to cobble up a majority for Government formation in Bihar, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Apr 3, 2005) described them as "constructive" and said it saw "positive signals" for a non-RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) alternative in the State.
"Constructive steps are being taken to form a Government in Bihar. We see positive signals in this regard. Just wait and see what happens," BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters in New Delhi.
"From the beginning, BJP desired that there shouldn't have been President rule after people gave their verdict for forming a Government in the Assembly elections. We wish that a non-RJD Government is formed," he said.
Naqvi declined to comment on queries whether BJP will support the JDU from outside or whether Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) will also be roped in to form a non-RJD Government in Bihar.
Referring to the recent meeting of JDU leader Nitish Kumar with BJP president L K Advani, he said the party had projected Kumar as the next Chief Minister of Bihar when it canvassed for the Assembly elections.
"We wish that governance improves in Bihar and development is speeded up," he said.
President rule was imposed in Bihar as no party was able to cobble up majority to form a Government.
