Govt declares 3-day State mourning on Pope's death

New Delhi: A three-day State mourning from today (Apr 3, 2005) has been declared by the Government as a mark of respect to late Pope John Paul II.
Flags at all Government buildings will fly at half-mast during the period, a Home Ministry spokesman said.
A decision to this effect was conveyed to those concerned including Ministries and departments by Union Home Secretary V K Duggal.
All official entertainment for the next three days would stand cancelled, the spokesman added.
