Manmohan forms Task Force for development of J&K Monday, April 4 2005 16:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has constituted a Task Force, headed by former RBI (Reserve Bank of India) Governor C Rangarajan, for preparing a long-term plan for the social and economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Task Force would prepare a report on an integrated approach and measures needed for the long-term economic and social development of the State, a PMO spokesman said in New Delhi today (Apr 4, 2005).
The body would identify sources of finance at the local, national and global level to fund the development of the State, he said.
The Task Force would also analyse issues, economic or otherwise, referred to it by the Prime Minister with respect to the development of the State.
The Prime Minister has asked the Task Force to submit an interim report within six months and the final report within a year, he said.
Besides Rangarajan the other members of the Task Force are: Haseeb Drabu, Sunil Mittal, Sunil Kant Munjal, S H H Rehman, Moosa Raza, G C Srivastava, T N Thakur and Analjit Singh. D Subbarao would be the Member Secretary.
Singh during his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir as Prime Minister on November 17 last year had announced a Rs 24,000 crore plan for economic revival of the State.
