US denial of visa to Modi shows 'double standards'
Monday, April 4 2005 10:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

London: Accusing the United States of adopting "double standards" the Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) in London said that its decision to deny visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was an eye opener.

"The irony is that America which preaches democracy does not seem to hold those values at all times. It has time and again shown double standards in this matter," Anil Pota, General Secretary, OFBJP (UK) said in a statement today (Apr 4, 2005).

Citing instances of attacks on Hindu temples in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Pota said the US State Department and "the self-appointed 'Coalition Against Genocide' in America failed to condemn those attacks". He lauded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for condemning the actions of the US Government.

"It is good to see that Indian democracy is of a higher nature than that of the mighty USA," Pota said.
