Elections case: Soren appears before Dumka court Monday, April 4 2005 12:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dumka (Jharkhand):
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren today (Apr 4, 2005) appeared before a local court in Dumka in connection with a case under the People's representation Act lodged during the recent Assembly elections in the State.
Under Section 127 (A) of the act, which was read out before Soren in the court, the Ramgarh police on April 11 booked a case against the Jharkhand Mukthi Morcha (JMM) chief and six of his followers for not giving credit to the printer making the party campaign poster as was required under the rules.
The accused pleaded innocent before the Dumka first class Judicial Magistrate Janardharn Singh who directed to issue summons to the witnesses (the police).
The next date of hearing is on May 16.
Besides Soren, the other accused are Shivlal Marandi, Karni Mandal, Arun Mandal, Bhuyan Biswas, Ajit Das and A K Shah.
