Mumbai:
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) yesterday (Apr 4, 2005) said that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre would complete its full five-year term.
"The UPA would successfully complete its full five-year term. The Opposition would be disappointed, as it won't get chance of coming to power once again at Centre," CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury told reporters inn Mumbai.
Yechury, who was in the city to participate in a march to Vidhan Bhavan urging fulfilment of various demands related to the people of the State, said his party would not withdraw its support to the UPA Government, which is working on the Common Minimum Programme (CMP).
The CPM leader said his party would not allow hike in petrol prices even though the prices in international market rise.
The Government would be asked to reduce margin of profits earned by petroleum companies instead of burdening the consumers, Yechury said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh assured the delegation of CPM of looking into its various demands.
Yechury also addressed a gathering of party workers from all over the State at Azad Maidan.
