Ahmedabad:
Gutka barons J M Joshi and Rasiklal Dhariwal, who are accused of having underworld links, would soon be brought to Gujarat Directorate of Forensic Sciences (DFS) at Gandhinagar for tests by the CBI.
Joshi, the proprietor of Goa brand gutka, who has already been subjected to lie-detector test twice by the CBI, is likely to undergo one more polygraph test along with the brain mapping and brain finger printing test, police sources said in Ahmedabad today (Apr 6, 2005).
The investigating agency has also communicated with the DFS for conducting lie-detector tests on Dhariwal, owner of the Manikchand brand, for his alleged links with the underworld and for providing gutka packaging machines to the kin of Dawood Ibrahim, sources added.
Dhariwal, who reached India from Dubai on April 1, was questioned by the CBI for the second consecutive day yesterday (Apr 5, 2005) at New Delhi on the alleged smuggling of gutka machines to Pakistan.
A Mumbai court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Dhariwal and Joshi for their alleged underworld links.
CBI has registered a case against four persons, including Anees Ibrahim, Dawood's kin, for allegedly smuggling gutka manufacturing machinery to Karachi and for extortion in the case.
The cases were registered against Zamurrdin Ansari, Rajesh Panchariya alias Jumbo, Mohammad Farooq Mansurian and Anees Ibrahim under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
