Munda tells PM: Razi sitting on Anglo-Indian issue Thursday, April 7 2005 09:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda yesterday (Apr 6, 2005) met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and alleged that State Governor Syed Sibte Razi was sitting on the proposal sent by his Government for nominating an Anglo-Indian member in the Assembly.
Coming out after the meeting, Munda told reporters that he informed the Prime Minister that Governor was not taking any decision on the nomination of an Anglo-Indian member in the Assembly despite a long lapse of time.
"He (Governor) is sitting on the proposal sent by us. He should send it back to the Government," he said.
Munda said he told the Prime Minister that it was not a healthy practice and privilege of Raj Bhavan be maintained.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government on March 17 had recommended the name of Gaulstone as the Anglo-Indian nominee.
The Chief Minister also discussed the developmental activities in the State and demanded Rs 1000 crore assistance from the Centre to kick-start State Critical Urban renewal project.
Munda also sought Centre's initiative for establishing nuclear power plant in the mineral rich State.
He demanded increase in air connectivity and railway network.
