Stamp scam: Three accused convicted for first time

Bangalore: In the first conviction in the Telgi fake stamp paper scandal, the Special Court in Bangalore has convicted three persons on charge of their involvement in the multi crore scam.

The three S Krishnamurthy (Bangalore), P Marimuthu (Coimbatore) and G Raja (Chennai), were convicted by the Judge A T Munnoli for preparing, printing and selling fake stamp papers and non-judicial stamp papers in 2001-02.

The Judge would pronounce the order sentencing the accused on Friday (Apr 8, 2005).

The conviction is in relation to one of the 48 cases being investigated by CBI in which the mastermind Abdul Karim Telgi is an accused.

The police had recovered fake stamp papers worth several lakhs of rupees from the three accused.
