Paswan seeks NCP's support in Govt-formation Friday, April 8 2005 22:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
As part of his efforts to pool non-NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and non-RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) MLAs for Government-formation in Bihar, LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today (Apr 8, 2005) met his Cabinet colleague and NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) president Sharad Pawar to seek support of his three newly elected legislators.
In another development, Paswan constituted a three-member central disciplinary committee in an apparent bid to keep his flock together amid reports that his 29 MLAs were restive for an early end to the States political deadlock.
Earlier, he had dissolved the party's Bihar committee apparently with the same motive.
"I am trying to cobble together like-minded parties for installation of a secular Government in Bihar. My meeting was in that regard," Paswan told reporters after his 30-minute meeting with Pawar.
The LJP leader said he had apprised the NCP chief of the latest political situation in Bihar which was placed under President's rule a month ago following a fractured verdict in the Assembly elections.
Paswan said Pawar shared his feelings for installation of a secular Government in the State.
