In significant steps to upgrade strategic bilateral ties, India and China are expected to set out next week political parametres and guiding principles to resolve the boundary question and firm up a protocol on confidence-building measures.
The guiding principles are likely to take into account security interests, welfare of people living around the border region and other key factors, official sources said today (Apr 8, 2005) on the eve of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's four-day visit to India starting from Bangalore tomorrow.
Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran will meet his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei in New Delhi tomorrow ahead of Wen's meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday.
National Security Adviser (NSA) M K Narayanan and senior Chinese Vice Minister Dai Bingguo, both Special Representatives (SRs) entrusted with the task of exploring from the political perspective of the overall bilateral relations the framework of a boundary settlement, will hold talks on Sunday.
