Vadodara:
Police registered a First Information Report against Mumbai-based social activist Teesta Setalvad, former deputy mayor of Vadodara Mohammed Vora and four others for allegedly keeping prime witness in the Best Bakery case Zaheera Sheikh under illegal confinement and threatening her.
A local court had ordered police inquiry into Sheikh's allegations that she never signed any affidavit requesting the Supreme Court to order re-trial in the case.
Four other accused in this case are Arif Malik, Munna Malik (both hailing from Vadodara), Raees Khan (Ahmedabad) and Issac (Mumbai).
There are about ten people involved in this case whose names and addresses are not available, police said.
The offence was registered under various sections of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Arms Act.
Chetan Gore, the convenor of 'Ananya and Nagrik Atyachar Nivaran Samiti', had approached the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate C D Vaghela on Friday (Apr 8, 2005) to inquire into the case after police and State Home department failed to respond to his request for conducting investigation.
In the FIR, it is alleged that Zaheera and her brother Nafitullah were forcibly taken away from their houses at knife-point and taken to Mumbai where they were kept in a hotel and were threatened to be killed with a gun.
