Cruel reward for serving party, says Karunakaran Sunday, April 10 2005 16:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Thiruvananthapuram:
Terming the Congress high command's decision to expel his son K Muraleedharan from the party, as a 'cruel and thankless reward' for serving the party for 75 years, senior leader K Karunakaran today (Apr 10, 2005) asserted that he would not submit meekly to the decision.
"This is unfortunate, cruel and heinous. I want to make it clear that I am not going to bow my head and meekly take this kind of decision," he said in Thiruvanathapuram.
Stating that the future course of action would be decided in consultation with workers and followers, he said, "I will go forward, taking the sentiments of the workers and the people."
Blaming Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for the action against his son, he said, "No one can clip my wings through action against my son."
The veteran leader said that though he had crossed swords (with his rivals), he had never taken an opportunistic approach in the party.
"This is not the decision of the Congress. Those behind this had nothing to do with the party," he said.
