Congress expels former KPCC chief Muraleedharan Sunday, April 10 2005 15:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
In a tough message to veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, Congress today (Apr 10, 2005) expelled his son and former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K Muraleedharan from the party for six years for alleged anti-party activities.
The decision to expel Muraleedharan, already suspended from the party for organising rallies in defiance of the High Command's directive, was announced by Congress general
secretary Janardhan Dwivedi in a press release in New Delhi.
The action against Muraleedharan came as he tried to form parallel district Congress committees in the State though he was suspended from the party.
The trouble in Kerala Congress broke out ahead of the organisational elections with Karunakaran launching a no-holds-barred attack on Chief Minister Oomen Chandy.
