Probe into security lapse during Wen's trip to IISc Monday, April 11 2005 12:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Viewing security breach during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Bangalore with all its seriousness, Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh today (Apr 11, 2005) summoned top Police and Home Department officials, who briefed him on the episode.
The State Government last night (Apr 10, 2005) ordered a high-level enquiry into the protest by a Tibetan youth during Wen's visit to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) yesterday. Singh had also spoken to DGP S N Borkar.
The Chief Minister again discussed the issue of security lapse with Home Secretary Brahma Dutt, Borkar and City Police Commissioner Mariswamy today.
Borkar said after the meeting with Singh that he has ordered a probe into the incident by Director General of Corps of Detectives (CoD), K R Srinivasan, and he is expected to submit his report tomorrow (Apr 12, 2005).
"We had an informal meeting. Government has viewed it (security lapse) with seriousness. CoD DG would probably give his report tomorrow and it would be placed before the Chief Minister for further action," Borkar said.
Tibetan activist Tenzin Tsundue had staged a dramatic protest for nearly 15 minutes from atop the main building of IISc when Wen was interacting with top scientists on the ground floor.
