Hubli: Renowned Hindustani vocalist, Dr Gangubai Hanagal today (Apr 12, 2005) returned the citation conferred on her by the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), expressing anguish over the "attitude" of Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh in not staying till the completion of a function to honour her in Hubli yesterday (Apr 11).

The octogenarian, who had to wait for quite sometime on the dais despite her health condition due to the late arrival of the Chief Minister, told reporters he had "insulted" her in the name of felicitation by not even staying till the function was over.

She said she had returned the award conferred on her to the HDMC Mayor.
