Karunakaran to reveal future plans later this month Tuesday, April 12 2005 11:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Thiruvananthapuram:
The future plans of the "I" group in the Congress in Kerala following the expulsion of former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K Muraleedharan would be announced at a convention later this month, senior party leader K Karunakaran said today (Apr 12, 2005).
"After consultation with party workers and supporters, I will announce the decision. The entire group would abide by that," he told a press conference Thiruvananthapuram.
Muraleedharan, son of Karunakaran, was expelled from the Congress on Sunday (Apr 10, 2005) for "anti-party activities".
Rubbishing reports that cracks had developed in the group with his daughter Padmaja Venugopal "distancing" herself from Muraleedharan's plans to float a new party, Karuunakaran said "no one needs to entertain any hope of creating divisions in my family.
"One thing I want to make clear. I will announce the final decision and all in the group will abide by that," he said.
"Let me see how Congress in Kerala could be strengthened and led in the right direction," he said.
