India honours Ambedkar on 114th birth anniversary Thursday, April 14 2005 10:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani and Home Minister Shivraj Patil today (Apr 14, 2005) led the nation in paying floral tributes to Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 114th birth anniversary.
While President Kalam sent a bouquet to pay his tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution, the Prime Minister, Vice-President, BJP chief and Home Minister offered their floral tributes to the statue of Bharat Ratna Ambedkar in lawns of the Parliament.
Union Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Meira Kumar, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, R Velu Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit and Lt Governor L K Joshi, several members of Parliament including R S Gawai and Chinta Mohan and former Chief Minister of Assam Anwara Taimur also offered their homage to Ambedkar, who worked for social justice and equality.
Large number of people from all over the city and neighbouring areas gathered in New Delhi to pay tributes to Ambedkar.
