Bangalore:
The Karnataka Government would seek more assistance from the Centre to tackle the Naxal problem, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh said today (Apr 14, 2005).
Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Singh, who would attend a
conference of Chief Ministers in New Delhi tomorrow (Apr 15, 2005), said he would press for more Central help but did not specify in what form it would be sought.
He said that the naxal issue involved socio-economic problems as also the law and order.
Singh said he would also seek an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take an all-party delegation to him within a month seeking his intervention against Andhra Pradesh's "illegal" irrigation projects using the Krishna waters.
He said that he would also expand the Cabinet to induct two more Ministers to fill the Congress' Ministerial quota in its coalition arrangement with Janata Dal Secular (JDS) after holding another round of consultations with party president Sonia Gandhi.
