Laloo demands dismissal of Narendra Modi Govt Thursday, April 14 2005 16:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Railway Minister and RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) president Laloo Prasad today (Apr 14, 2005) urged Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to dismiss the Narendra Modi Government and impose President's rule in Gujarat in view of the charges levelled against it by additional DGP R B Sreekumar.
"I met Home Minister in Delhi before leaving for Patna and sought immediate dismissal of Narendra Modi," Laloo told reporters in Patna on his arrival from New Delhi.
Laloo alleged that Modi had asked the police to eliminate minorities in Gujarat and protect "Sangh Parivar" and therefore, he should be immediately removed.
Sreekumar had accused the Modi Government of denying him promotion for "politically motivated" reasons.
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had yesterday issued notices to Modi after Sreekumar filed an application alleging that the Government's decision of "not promoting him was politically motivated and prejudiced, as he had exposed the Government's role during the post-Godhra riots."
After issuing the notice to Modi and other Government officials yesterday, the CAT had asked them to reply by May 9.
