At least 64 Maoist rebels killed in western Nepal

Kathmandu: At least 64 Maoist rebels are believed to have been killed in fresh clash with security forces in western Nepal, the Nepal Royal Army said today (Apr 14, 2005).

"Sixty Maoist rebels were killed in a fresh clash with the security forces at Dalphing in Rukum district yesterday," the Army said in a statement.

Rukum district is located about 400 kilometres west of Kathmandu.

In the other incident yesterday, four armed rebels were killed during an encounter with the security forces in Sabukhal area of Arghakhachi district, the Army said.
