Pakistan denies visas to Indian musicians troupe Friday, April 15 2005 22:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Despite the recent bonhomie in Indo-Pak ties, Pakistan has denied visas to a troupe of Indian musicians, including noted classical singer Shubha Mudgal, which was scheduled to perform in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
The nine musicians, who were to leave on the tour sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) today (Apr 15, 2005), had to cancel their visit as the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi denied them visas.
"This is very disappointing that we were not given visa. In fact, this is also very surprising, given that the two countries are going through a time of camaraderie and friendship," Mudgal told PTI.
The singer said no reason was cited by the Pakistani authorities for not granting them visa.
