BJP rubbishes Laloo's charge against party in Bihar
Saturday, April 16 2005 10:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) yesterday (Apr 15, 2005) termed as ''rubbish and absurd'' Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Laloo Prasad's charge against the party that it was trying to bribe the Independent MLAs and legislators belonging to smaller parties to secure their support to form a Government in Bihar.

Spotlight: Bihar Elections

''It (the charge) is absolutely rubbish and absurd,'' Bihar BJP president Gopal Narayan Singh told sources, strongly reacting to the allegation by RJD president Laloo Prasad that BJP was trying to bribe independents and MLAs of smaller parties to cobble together a majority to form a Government.

''Anybody who understands political arithmetic would know that BJP with 37 MLAs is not in a position to form a Government on its own,'' he said adding BJP would play a positive role in formation of a non-RJD Government.

Bihar - Party Position

Hitting out at RJD president Laloo Prasad for levelling ''such a baseless charge'' Singh said ''the people know who is more resourceful''.

Laloo while addressing a meeting of RJD workers and leaders of Patna division had accused the BJP of trying to ''buy the support'' of the MLAs.
