NDMC hands over Pervez 's birth certificate to PMO Saturday, April 16 2005 18:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
A birth certificate believed to be that of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and to be presented to him was today (Apr 16, 2005) handed over to the Prime Minister's Office by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The NDMC handed over the birth certificates for three children born to a Mr Musharraf in 1941, 1942 and 1945.
The civic body found entries for two male children born on August 11, 1942 and July 22, 1945, respectively, both identified as 'son of Musharraf' and who were delivered at the
Lala Girdharilal Maternity Hospital.
NDMC spokesman Madan Thapliyal said the civic body also found an entry for a girl child born on July 19, 1941, identified as 'daughter of Musharraf, son of Shaiffudin.'
"We have handed over birth certificates for all three entries to the Prime Minister's Office," Thapliyal said.
During their visit to the capital last month, Musharraf's mother and elder brother had visited the Lala Girdharilal Maternity Hospital, located in Kamala Market and expressed the desire to get the birth certificates of her two sons Javed and Pervez, born in that hospital in July 1941 and August 1942 respectively.
However, the official website of the Pakistan President gives his date of birth as August 11, 1943, while NDMC could not find any entry for that date.
The NDMC had to scour through its old records to find these entries. The Kamala Market area used to be under the NDMC's jurisdiction till 1957. The area is now under the
Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
