Qatar is opposed to military action against Iran
Saturday, April 16 2005 11:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Qatar yesterday (Apr 1, 2005) opposed any military action against Iran and hoped that the nuclear row would be resolved peacefully between that country and the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA).

"We don't want problems in the Gulf anymore. We already have many problems in the region," Qatar's First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al-Thani told reporters in New Delhi.

"We don't need any military action (against Iran)," he said, adding, "We hope the issue (of nuclear row) will be solved peacefully between Iran and the Energy Committee (IAEA)."

Iran is being accused by the US of pursuing a nuclear weapons programme, which is being denied by the former.
