'Journalists should be careful while filing report'
Saturday, April 16 2005 16:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Raipur: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Apr 16, 2005) asked journalists to improve their skills for their own growth and be careful while filing reports.

"One wrong news item may create a lot of problem and we are observing that every day," Vajpayee said, after laying foundation stone of the Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Mass Communication University, the first ever in Chattisgarh, in Raipur.

There was need of right talent in the field of journalism, as it was full of opportunities, he said adding, as a journalist he had also worked in a newspaper and knew the profession demands both labour and authenticity (pramanikta) of a news.

Chattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that it was a great moment for the State since, Vajpayee, who himself was a great journalist, was laying foundation stone for the building.

Since Chattisgarh has a great potential for journalism and mass communication the State Government had decided to have the University, Singh said.

Higher Education Minister Ajay Chandrakar said that the State Government had decided to start three new universities and recently Pundit Sundarlal Sharma Open University was set up at Bilaspur, where as Swamy Vivekanand Technical University would be set up in Bhilai.
