Tough talking Musharraf has had a change of heart Monday, April 18 2005 16:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The usually blunt and tough talking Pervez Musharraf was at pains today (Apr 18, 2005) to assure India that he was a different person, that he was not "uni-focal on Kashmir" and that he has indeed had a change of heart.
"I have come with a new heart," the Pakistani President told Indian Editors at a breakfast meeting in New Delhi pointedly saying that he disagreed with media headlines that said "phir wohi dil laya hoon (I have come with the same heart)". A Hindi movie of this title was a major hit in the 1960s.
"I beg to differ. phir wohi dil nahi laya hoon (I have not come with the same heart). I would like to say main naya dil laya hoon (I have come with a new heart)," said the General while contrasting the atmosphere in the Indo-Pak ties at the time of the Agra summit four years ago and now.
It was," Musharraf said, "Acrimony, it was hatred. We were angry at each other. We were killing each other. There were tensions. Now there is friendship, there is harmony. We are talking peace. We are not angry. We are very happy. So it is totally different."
