Petrol pumps throughout India to remain shut today Monday, April 18 2005 07:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Petrol pumps throughout the country will remain shut today (Apr 18, 2005) to press for the demand to increase dealers' commission, Federation of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT) said last night (Apr 17, 2005).
"All petrol pumps will be shut from midnight tonight for 24 hours to press for higher commission," FAIPT President Ashok Badhwar said yesterday.
FAIPT is demanding increase in dealers' commission to five per cent from the current 1.59 per cent on petrol and 1.27 per cent on diesel.
"We have made our demands known to the Petroleum Ministry and it is for them to act now. If they do not listen to us, a bigger agitation would be launched," he warned.
FAIPT is also demanding uniform pricing of petroleum products all over the country and quality checking equipments at petrol pumps to enable monitoring the quality of products delivered by oil companies at the pumps.
