Kargil affidavit reflects Govt's vendetta: Advani
Tuesday, April 19 2005 19:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president L K Advani today (Apr 19, 2005) said the Government's fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court on arms procurements during the Kargil conflict reflected its policy of "vendetta" against the Opposition.

"It is a serious issue. It is not an attack on NDA convener George Fernandes alone. It reflects the Government's vendetta towards the entire Opposition. This Government's only achievement so far has been revenge," the Leader of Opposition told the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi, according to its spokesman V K Malhotra.

Advani cited the recent political events in Goa and Jharkhand to substantiate his charge and asked all Opposition parties to "unite and resist" the tendency.

The Parliamentary Party meeting, presided over by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, decided to vociferously demanding tabling of the Phukan Commission report on the Tehelka expose as also the CVC Report on the procurements.

Condemning the killing of a BSF officer by Bangladesh Rifles, the meeting also expressed concern over reports that the minorities -Hindus, Christians and Buddhists- in that country were being persecuted, Malhotra said.

Leadership issue

BJP sought to play down former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's views on RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) chief K S Sudarshan's remarks on the party leadership saying the issue was a "closed chapter".

"After the clarification given by the RSS and the subsequent statement of BJP on the issue, it is a closed chapter," V K Malhotra told reporters in New Delhi.
