2nd Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus to roll out tomorrow Wednesday, April 20 2005 16:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Srinagar:
Ignoring militant threats, the second Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus will start from Srinagar tomorrow (Apr 21, 2005) with all the 30 passengers bound for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) taking their tickets for the journey.
"All the Muzaffarabad passengers have contacted the concerned authorities for tickets and the bus would roll from Srinagar as per schedule tomorrow," Deputy Inspector General of Police, Srinagar, H K Lohia said in Srinagar today (Apr 20, 2005).
However, the officer refused to divulge the details about the venue from where the bus starts from Srinagar. "We have kept it as a closely guarded secret to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers," Lohia said.
Four militant outfits - Al-Nasireen, Al-Arifeen, Save Kashmir movement and Khidam-ul-Millat - are opposing the bus service and have threatened passengers not to travel by the bus.
In view of the threats, a proposal was under consideration of the Government to run the bus service from border town of Uri in North Kashmir instead of Srinagar.
The historic bus service kicked off on April 7 in the backdrop of a militant attack on the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in the city where the passengers were kept by the authorities as part of security measures.
